Voter Registration

Residents are able to register to vote, in person, at the Township Office. The deputy registrar is normally available Monday – Friday 8am – 3pm. Residents are welcome to call ahead for availability.

Things to remember when registering:

  • You must be a US citizen.
  • You must be 18 years old by election day.
  • Bring in two forms of identification. One form must include your name and current address. The second form must include your name.
    • Examples of acceptable forms of identification:
      • Illinois driver’s license
      • Illinois state ID
      • Employee or student ID
      • Credit card
      • Social security card
      • Birth certificate
      • Utility bill in applicant’s name
      • Mail postmarked to the applicant
      • Valid U.S. passport
      • Public aid ID card
      • Lease or rental contract
  • Registration is open all year except during the 27 days preceding an election and reopens the second day following an election.
    • July 7, 2015 Special Primary Election
      • June 9, 2015 – last day to become registered to vote
      • July 9, 2015 – registration reopens
    • September 10, 2015 Special Election
      • August 13, 2015 – last day to become registered to vote
      • September 12, 2015 – registration reopens

Residents can also register to vote by mail or online.

If residents need a Change of Voter Registration Address Form, paper forms are available at the Township Office or you can print one from the Sangamon County Clerk’s website.
